And Then There Was Khan…
Welcome to the first Khan strip. Well, it’s not officially the first one I ever drew, but it is the first one in the storyline so… ah screw it. It’s the first Khan strip I ever drew
So here’s a rundown on Khan…
I drew Khan for the first time while being really really bored at a crappy convienant store job ( I was working 2 jobs at the time to make ends meet). I just drew this little fuzzy rabbit standing there snickering. He didn’t quite look like he does now. There was a lot of revamping. He was a lot fuzzier back then and not as well defined. Of course, that was about 5 years ago. I didn’t realize it until a couple of years later, but I realized that I subconsciously used the pizza bags at my other job as the jumping off point for Khan’s face. The lip of the bags had this black edge that with a peice of velcro on it. On the top of the bag were two strips of velcro that allowed the bag to expand depending on the size of the pizzas. When the bag was closed you could see the face of Khan (or what would become the face of Khan) staring up at you.
His “master” and friend Gil was basically a project. His first design was this weird looking guy who had a blonde Vanilla Ice looking hairdo and huge baggy pants with suspenders. Whenever I drew him with his hands in his pockets, he looked like he was playing with himself. I decided that he needed an overhaul when I realized that he seemed to be turned on by Khan whenever he stood near him and had to play pocket pool. As much as I would love to fill this strip with sexual inuendos (and I will, don’t worry), that was not the approach I wanted. So I revamped him and after several attempts, I finally came up with a version that I liked.
So there are the beginings of The Great Khan. Enjoy!.
